Class Policies

  • Registration and pre-payment is required to save your spot.
  • If you need to withdraw from a class for which you are registered, please give 24 hours notice in order to receive a refund or credit.
  • Our Basic classes have all materials included, but for most classes, you will need to purchase your own materials.
  • Materials are available at The Bead Gallery at a 15% discount to class participants. Be sure to mention that the purchases you are making are for a class so we can be sure to give you your discount.
  • Classes will run if there are two or more people enrolled. If you are the only person enrolled in a class, we will offer the class to you as a private lesson at private lesson rates. If you do not wish to take a private lesson, we will issue you a credit or refund.

Wire & Glass Classes

SCHEDULE APRIL - JUNE 2010

Classes are divided into #1 classes, which are suitable for any level of beading expertise, including beginner, and #2 classes, which are more suitable for those with some experience. The Bead Gallery staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about classes.

 

The Following classes have not been scheduled, but are available by calling the store and making an appointment with Joy. Private lessons $20/hr, 2 or more people 2 hrs for $25 per person.

Fun With Wire#1 - Fun With Wire Part 1

Instructor: Aurora

Everything you ever wanted to know about wire... and more! After taking this class you will know which kind of wire to choose for each project, what different tools are used for (such as pliers, cutters, jigs, benders, bench blocks, anvils, hammers, mandrels, pin vices and files), and how to make your own headpins, ear wires, S-clasps, hook and eye clasps, and crimp cord ends (for leather cord). Wrapped loops (gallery wraps) will be covered as well as how to make your own design components using pliers or jigs. No wire-wrapping experience necessary.

Basic Earrings #1 - Basic Earrings

Learn the basics of earring construction and design. You will make 3 pairs of earrings while learning how to create a perfect gallery wrap, how to dangle a bead from a chain and how to attach a top-drilled (briolette) bead.

Fun with earwires #1 - Fun With Earwires

Learn now to make your own classic earwires as well as how to make a pair of modern contoured earwires that can be embellished simply or dramatically. You will make four(4) pairs of earrings in all.

Caged Bead Bracelet

#2 - Caged Bead Bracelet

Learn how to make spiral cages to enclose beads and stones, or, just leave the cages empty...your choice. Whatever option you choose, you're sure to have a fabulous conversation-starting bracelet. This class is for those who have had some previous experience with wire, whether through a class or experimenting with wire on your own.

Liquid Silver Cascade Earrings#1 - Liquid Silver Cascade Earrings*NEW CLASS*

These earrings will make you think of languid waterfalls, shimmering in moonlight. There's something so attractive about the movement of liquid silver beads swaying gracefully from an earring. Becky makes the process simple as you construct these spectacular pieces, learning to bend wire and make a gallery wrap. This class is suitable for beginners.

Egyptian Spiral Bracelet or Earrings

#2 - Egyptian Spiral Bracelet or Earrings

This ancient design has been worn for thousands of years, but it still looks modern. You will love the heft and movement of this exotic bracelet as well as how easily it comes together. If working with the large gauge wire needed to make the bracelet is too hard on your hands, we also offer a lovely earring design, which uses thinner gauge wire. This class is for those who have had some previous experience with wire, whether through a class or experimenting with wire on your own. If you are in doubt, please talk to the instructor.

GLASS CLASSES

#1 - Beginner 1 Intro to Softglass Beadmaking
$80 (Materials $10)
Instructor: Mary

Become familiar with the tools, torches and materials used to make soft glass beads. Participants learn to make basic round and cylinder beads as well as how to embellish them. Techniques covered in this class include applying dots, stripes and pulling stringers.
