Class Policies

  • Registration and pre-payment is required to save your spot.
  • If you need to withdraw from a class for which you are registered, please give 24 hours notice in order to receive a refund or credit.
  • Our Basic classes have all materials included, but for most classes, you will need to purchase your own materials.
  • Materials are available at The Bead Gallery at a 15% discount to class participants. Be sure to mention that the purchases you are making are for a class so we can be sure to give you your discount.
  • Classes will run if there are two or more people enrolled. If you are the only person enrolled in a class, we will offer the class to you as a private lesson at private lesson rates. If you do not wish to take a private lesson, we will issue you a credit or refund.

Wire & Glass Classes

SCHEDULE January - april 2010

Classes are divided into #1 classes, which are suitable for any level of beading expertise, including beginner, and #2 classes, which are more suitable for those with some experience. The Bead Gallery staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about classes.

 

The Following classes have not been scheduled, but are available by calling the store and making an appointment with Joy. Private lessons $20/hr, 2 or more people 2 hrs for $25 per person.

Basic Earrings #1 - Basic Earrings

Learn the basics of earring construction and design. You will make 3 pairs of earrings while learning how to create a perfect gallery wrap, how to dangle a bead from a chain and how to attach a top-drilled (briolette) bead.

Fun With Wire #1 - Fun With Wire

Everything you ever wanted to know about wire...and more! After taking this class you will know which kind of wire to choose for each project, what different tools are used for (such as pliers, cutters, jigs, benders, bench blocks, anvils, hammers, mandrels, pin vices and files), and how to make your own headpins, earwires, S-clasps, hook and eye clasps, and crimp cord ends(for leather cord). Wrapped loops(gallery wraps) will be covered as well as how to make your own design components using pliers or jigs. No wire-wrapping experience necessary.

Fun with earwires #1 - Fun With Earwires

Learn now to make your own classic earwires as well as how to make a pair of modern contoured earwires that can be embellished simply or dramatically. You will make four(4) pairs of earrings in all.

Coiled Wire, Keishi Pearls & Swarovski Crystal Pendant#1 - Coiled Wire, Keishi Pearls & Swarovski Crystal Pendant *NEW CLASS*

Learn Faith's method of coiling wire around a dowel to create an elegant, modern pendant, using Keishi pearls and Swarovski crystals. This design is easily adapted to earrings.

If working with the large gauge wire needed to make the bracelet is too hard on your hands, we also offer a lovely earring design, which uses thinner gauge wire. Here's another great class that uses your Coiling Gizmo. Creativity reigns supreme as you make a variety of coiled wire earrings in an assortment of colors and designs. After Kelsey guides you through the basics, you can let your imagination run free as you construct a wardrobe of fashionable, colorful, coiled wire earrings. Learn single and double coiling techniques in this beginning class.

Become familiar with the tools, torches and materials used to make soft glass beads. Participants learn to make basic round and cylinder beads as well as how to embellish them. Techniques covered in this class include applying dots, stripes and pulling stringers.
