Class Policies

  • Registration and pre-payment is required to save your spot.
  • If you need to withdraw from a class for which you are registered, please give 24 hours notice in order to receive a refund or credit.
  • We have two "basic" two-hour classes (Basic Earrings and Basic Bracelets) that have all materials included, but for most classes, you will need to purchase your own materials.
  • Materials are available at The Bead Gallery at a 15% discount to class participants. Be sure to mention that the purchases you are making are for a class so we can be sure to give you your discount.
  • Classes will run if there are two or more people enrolled. If you are the only person enrolled in a class, we will offer the class to you as a private lesson at private lesson rates. If you do not with to take a private lesson, we will issue you a credit or refund.

Classes are divided into #1 classes, which are suitable for any level of beading expertise, including beginner, and #2 classes, which are more suitable for those with some experience. The Bead Gallery staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about classes.

Beading Classes

Pearl Knotting #1 - Pearl Knotting Part ONE (Traditional Pearl Knotting on Silk) $25 (or $35 for both Part ONE and Part TWO)
Instructor: Joy

Learn traditional pearl knotting. Create a pearl necklace on silk, tying a knot between each pearl and finishing by attaching a clasp using French wire.

Pearl Knotting #1 - Pearl Knotting - Part TWO (Floating Pearl Necklace on Silk) $15 (or $35 for both Part ONE and Part TWO)

This class teaches you how to make a "floating pearl" necklace with knotted pearls and exposed silk thread. Learn now to attach a clasp with bead tips.

Wool Beads #1 - Wool Beads $25 $8 - 10 Materials Fee

These unique beads are fun to make from felted wool. (If you have wool scraps, either fabric or yarn, bring them in!) After finishing your beads, you will make them into a fun and funky bracelet.

Basic Stringing #1 - Basic Stringing $35 (Includes Materials)
Instructor: Joy

If you are new to beading, this is the class for you! Learn basic stringing and finishing techniques. You will learn two (2) different methods for securing crimps while you make both a necklace and a bracelet.

This necklace is Fun, Fast, and Floating! You won't believe how quickly you can make this beautiful piece.

Intro to Bead Spinner #1 - Intro to Bead Spinner $20
Instructor: Kelsey

Learn to string beads in a flash with the bead spinner! You will never again feel intimidated about making jewelry that requires a large number of beads. You will complete a three-strand bracelet. All materials included.

Paper Beads #1 - Paper Beads $35
Instructor: Kelsey

Learn to make unique, colorful and gorgeous beads using "everyday" paper, such as gift wrap, magazine pages , and stationary (basically any paper except coated wallpaper.) Paper will also be available for purchase in class.

Drilling a Stone #1 - Drilling a Stone $30
Instructor: Jesse

Learn how to use a Foredom drill to make a bead out of a stone (or create a bigger hole in an existing bead.) Three (3) students maximum. (First stone to drill must be purchased at The Bead Gallery. You will learn safety measures and criteria for drilling stones without breaking them. The second stone you drill may be brought from home.)

Soldered Ring #1 - Soldered Ring $45 + Materials (about $10)

Learn to solder, anneal, pickle, and polish while you create this beautiful sterling silver ring. Four (4) students maximum.

Sculpted Metal Pendant #1 - Sculpted Metal Pendant $50 plus Materials
Instructor: Angela

This class is a great opportunity to try your hand metal working without using fire. Practice cutting, shaping, filing, hardening and drilling sheet metal (either copper or silver) while you create a unique pendant with a flat stone or cabochon. You will receive a set of tools to take home to continue practicing this technique. Please bring a pair of WORK GLOVES with you to class.

Tapping a Stone and Attaching a Bail #2 - Tapping a Stone and Attaching a Bail $35 includes Bail
Instructor: Jesse

This class teaches you how to use a Foredom tool to drill part way into a stone in order to attach a bail using jeweler's epoxy. This is an elegant and professional method to turn a stone into a pendant. *Prerequisite Class: Drilling a Stone

Sculpted Metal Pendant #1 - Soldered Wire Pendant $50 plus Materials
Instructor: Angela

Learn the basics of soldering when you make this fast and elegant pendant. You will learn how to use a torch safely as well as skills such as sanding, annealing and pickling.

Fun with Wire #1 - Fun With Wire $25
Instructor: Lolo

Learn all about wire! After taking this class you will know which kind of wire to choose for each project, what different tools are used for (such as pliers, cutters, jigs, benders, bench blocks, anvils, hammers, mandrels, pin vices and files), and how to make your own headpins, ear wires, S-clasps, hook and eye clasps, and crimp cord ends (for leather cord). Wrapped loops (gallery wrap) will be covered as well as how to make your own design components using pliers or jigs. No wire-wrapping experience necessary.

Fun With Earwires #1 - Fun With Earwires $25

Learn now to make your own classic earwires as well as how to make a pair of modern contoured earwires that can be embellished simply or dramatically. You will make four (4) pairs of earrings in all.

Learn the basics of earring construction and design. You will make 3 pairs of earrings while learning how to create a perfect gallery wrap, how to dangle a bead from a chain and how to attach a top-drilled (briolette) bead.

Studio Glass Classes

Intro to Borosilicate Glass #1 - Intro to Borosilicate Glass $80 $10 Materials Fee
Instructor: Max

Get familiar with torches and tools used to work with scientific glass (also known as borosilicate, hard glass, or pyrex). This type of glass can be used to creatively make art objects and pieces of jewelry. Students will learn to manipulate the glass, apply color and make small loops as they create basic pendants. This class will give students a general feel for borosilicate glasswork and give them a foundation for developing further skills.

Beginner I Softglass Beadmaking #1 - Beginner I Softglass Beadmaking $60 $10 Materials Fee
Instructor: Wendy

Become familiar with the tools, torches and materials used to make soft glass beads. Participants learn to make basic round and cylinder beads as well as how to embellish them. Techniques covered in this class include applying dots, stripes, and pulling stringers.

Intermediate & Hollow Design in Borosilicate #1 - Intermediate & Hollow Design in Borosilicate $100 $10 Materials Fee
Instructor: Max

Learn decorating techniques such as silver and gold fuming, honeycomb and rattichello patterns with borosilicate glass. Participants will be using hollow tubes. Techniques can be used to decorate pendants, beads, paperweights, vessels and sculpture.
